Pickleball Court Fence Questions
How high should a pickleball court fence be?
Most courts use a 10' fence all the way around. The ASBA manual says 7' to 8' is common, with 10' or 12' where balls would leave the site. Low fence between courts or along the sides is usually 3'-6". A 12' fence needs a mid-rail at 7' so players don't run into it.
How many feet of fence does one pickleball court need?
A single court at the recommended 34' × 64' playing area takes 196 linear feet to enclose. Two courts side by side (65' × 64') take 258 feet. The calculator works out the exact footage, posts and gates for up to 24 courts.
What size is a pickleball court with fencing?
The lined court is 20' × 44'. USA Pickleball and the ASBA recommend a 34' × 64' fenced playing area per court, with 30' × 60' as the minimum. Courts side by side need 11' between sidelines at the recommended size.
What chain link fabric is used for pickleball courts?
9-gauge fabric with a 2" mesh is the standard, knuckled top and bottom so there are no sharp ends. Black vinyl-coated fabric is the most popular choice because it disappears visually and resists Florida salt air better than plain galvanized.
How far apart are the posts on a pickleball fence?
Line posts go at most 10' apart. Where windscreen hangs, drop to 8' to handle the extra wind load. Footings run about 3' deep and at least four times the post diameter wide.
How wide should a pickleball court gate be?
Use a 4' wide by 7' tall gate at the net line. A 4' clear opening lets sport wheelchairs through, and putting gates at the net keeps players from walking behind someone serving.
Court dimensions and fence specs follow the ASBA / USA Pickleball “Pickleball Courts: Construction & Maintenance Manual” (2023).
